Choose a name, design your crest and kit, and start with your own squad in a league of your country.
Prepare the matchday
Line-up, formation, playing style, set-piece takers and a match script with substitutions – everything is set before kick-off.
Once a day: kick-off
The server simulates every match in the world. Training, finances, injuries and transfers are processed at the same time.
Afterwards: result and replay
Watch the replay on the retro TV, read your club newspaper, react – and get ready for the next matchday.

Every pass, tackle and shot is calculated. Positions, skills, fitness and morale really matter – no results rolled with dice.

Tactics, match script and scouting

Twelve formations, playing styles, set-piece takers and if-then rules like “if we are behind after 60 minutes, go all out”. The opponent dossier shows form and head-to-head record.

Training and youth

Team and individual training, learnable skills such as free kicks or reflexes, a youth academy and new talents to scout every season.

Stadium and economy

Expand your stands, add roofs, build a fan shop, catering and floodlights. Set ticket prices per stand – attendance follows your team's strength.

League, cups and Global Championship

Promotion and relegation across several divisions, the national cup, the international Global Championship – and your own cups against friends.

Nations Trophy

A country's most successful managers become national coach: pick the squad, set the line-up and take on the other nations.

Transfer market and contracts

Scout players, negotiate fees and salaries, extend contracts or release players – every decision shows up in your budget.

Club newspaper and press conference

After every matchday your own newspaper reports on results, transfers and records. Face the press – your answers affect the team's morale.

Play in your language against managers from all over the world. Letters, a forum, profile pictures and a trophy cabinet included.

Crest editor

Design your club's crest yourself: pick a shape and colours, combine pixel icons and background patterns, add lettering – your crest then appears everywhere in the game, from the league table to the trophy cabinet.

Gaffer's Desk is free with no time limit. Money cannot buy players or strength. An optional premium subscription only adds convenience – such as the assistant coach's line-up suggestion, extended opponent scouting or a look back at past seasons.

The person behind Gaffer's Desk

Hi, I'm Dali – the person behind this project. I've been a software developer for 20 years and a football fan for almost 40. Gaffer's Desk is inspired by the football managers of my youth in the 90s, and I hope it brings back a little of that nostalgia for you.

I also want to be honest with you: I have a full-time job and a family, so I built this project with a lot of help from AI. Even so, countless hours of my own went into it – bringing in my ideas and concepts. I hope you enjoy the game all the same, and I look forward to seeing you on the virtual pitch and following how your teams develop.

Is Gaffer's Desk really free?

Yes. You can play the whole game for free. Premium only adds convenience features and has no influence on your team's strength.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Gaffer's Desk runs in any modern browser – on your computer, tablet or smartphone.

How much time do I need?

A few minutes a day are enough: check the result, adjust the line-up, done. If you love the details, there is plenty to fine-tune.

When are the matches played?

Once a day the whole world plays one matchday – all matches at the same time, wherever you live. A season has 34 matchdays, followed by a planning day before the new season starts.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Create your own cup and invite your friends' clubs, write letters and meet other managers in the forum.
